International conference “Research for Rural Development 2025” brought together researchers from 14 countries

From May 14 to 16, 2025, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) hosted the 31st Annual International Scientific Conference “Research for Rural Development,” bringing together researchers, experts, and practitioners to discuss current scientific developments and practical solutions for the sustainable development of rural areas.

This year, the conference featured a total of 118 registered presentations, including 78 in-person presentations, 17 online presentations, and 23 poster presentations. A total of 108 presentations were successfully delivered during the event.

The conference welcomed participants and authors from 14 different countries, including Latvia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Mexico, Poland, Estonia, France, Algeria, Sweden, Germany, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, and Pakistan. Registered participants represented 10 countries, and 122 participants attended the event in person.

The conference program included plenary sessions and thematic sections focused on engineering, agriculture, veterinary medicine, economics, environment, and other fields crucial for rural development. We sincerely thank our plenary speakers for their valuable insights and contributions Rūta Ozola-Davidāne, Vitālijs Osadčuks, Irina Pilvere from our university, and Zita Kriaučiūnienė from Lithuania, whose presentations sparked engaging discussions and highlighted key trends in rural research and policy.

We also express our deep appreciation to all section moderators whose dedication and professionalism ensured smooth and meaningful discussions throughout the sessions: Zane Vītoliņa, Ksenija Furmanova, Edgars Dubrovskis, Tatjana Ķince, Sandija Zēverte-Rivža, Lilija Dučkena, Dagnija Grabuža, Līga Feldmane, Jānis Kaņeps, Ulvis Skadiņš, Vineta Tetere, Jovita Pilecka-Ulčugačeva, Aija Pilvere, Gunita Mazure, Tatjana Rubina, Tatjana Šinkus, Paula Miezāka.

A special thank you goes to the conference organizing team and all our LBTU colleagues whose efforts made this event a success.

The final day of the conference featured a memorable social program, with participants visiting Jaunpils Castle. The visit included an engaging excursion and an interactive experience where participants dressed in medieval-style costumes, offering a unique cultural and historical perspective and a joyful conclusion to the scientific gathering.

The “Research for Rural Development” conference continues to serve as an important platform for international collaboration and scientific exchange in support of innovation and sustainability in rural regions.
